Stay for 10 Months?

I am a Canadian looking to spend 10 months in China next year studying at a small academy in Henan, based on the information above, could I obtain a multiple entry visa, then exit and re-enter the country after 180 days to stay for 10 months? The academy is too small to produce the required paperwork for a student type entry permit, what type should I apply for?

Madison, you mean you want to stay 180 days first, and then exit and reenter to stay ten months in total, right? If so, I suggest you to apply for the multiple-entry X2 type. However, it's likely that the embassy does not issue multiple-entry X2 for you. In this case, you have no choice but to apply for a single-entry X2 first and then apply for another one after you exit.
