About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

My flight is Hong Kong - Shanghai, stay 60 hrs and then on to Tokyo, can I use the 72 hrs free visa?

I am a US citizen and want to leave Shanghai Airport, but stay in the city for 2 days.
Am I good for the 72 hours free transit and if so, when can I apply to the airline so that I know that I am OK?

Hi Bill! You are good for the 72-hour free transit. You can tell the airline about it when you board on the plane and then apply after your arrival at Shanghai Airport.
