Passport validity for visa free transit

I am a US citizen and will have an overnight 18 hour transit in Guangzhou during my return journey to the US. What is the requirement for the validity of the passport? I just checked. My passport will be valid for 3 more month from the transit date. Will this be an issue?
Thanks,

Faruque

Faruque, to play it safe, I suggest you renew your passport. You'd better have your passpor valid at least for six months.
