About:Visa Policy of China

Layover in Beijing for 10 hours. What kind of visa needed to leave the airport?

We will be traveling from Bombay to Los Angeles in January & has 10 hour layover in Beijing from 10 AM to 9PM. Can we go for sight seeing in Beijing during that time?
Can we get the permit at the airport? How to apply?
We have 3 US passports & one Indian passport with US Green card. Thank you.

Seema, all of you don't need the entry permit. You just need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the airport to go for sightseeing.

Do you know if the passport validity of 6 months is applicable in the above case?
I have a similar situation. I have a US passport which will have 3 months validity from my 24 hr transit time in China.

Shaheen, it's fine. As far as I know, PRC does not require the at least six-month remaining validity of passport when entering through the border, so I think you can still enjoy the free transit policy.
