Do I need to apply for a Visa

I am travelling to Melbourne and have a connected flight through Baiyun airport, my stay in Baiyun will only be for about 3 hours. So do I need to apply for the free 72 hours transit, or can I go straight to my connected flight?

If you have no intention to go out of the airport, you don't need to apply for the free transit.
