Yes, you can enjoy discount using the card to take the buses, maglev or subways. You can get a refund when you do not want to use it, and there are a lot of refund sites in subway stations, connivance stores, in different areas of the city.

If the card is well kept, ther will be no penalty. If it is damaged, a fee of CNY 20 will be charged.

Also, if the balance is less than CNY10, you can get the balance in full amount. If the balance is more than CNY10, a service fee at rate of 5% will be charged.

I suggest you refund the card in subway stations, for you can find and reach them more easily. Here are some of them for reference: Changshu Road, Century Park, East Nanjing Road, Longyang Road, Tiantong Road, Jiangsu Road.
