Do I qualify for 72 hour visa? Thank you.

Hello, I am traveling from NYC Sept 17th, stopping in Beijing on Sept 18th, and catching a connecting flight from Beijing to Tokyo on Sept. 19th. I reserved a hotel in Beijing because of the long overnight layover. Same thing on my return trip, I leave Tokyo and Arrive in Beijing on Sept. 27 and I catch my connecting flight on Sept. 28th from Beijing to NYC.
