My partner offered job in Chengdu (unmarried). can I get Visa?

My partner has been offered a job in Chengdu, I am planning to join him after a few months however I see that the S types are only offered to spouses and not unmarried partners. Is there a possible way to live with him and work? I am thinking of taking up studies but see I could not get work on a study 'X' type. Any info would be helpful
