Residence permit on an old passport

Hi,
I'm travelling back to China for work but decided to update my passport because it would expire while i was in China. Will I be able to fly there using the permit in my old passport or do I need to renew my visa before I depart?

Jessica, if the resident permit on your old passport is still valid, I think you can take your new and old passport to enter.
