About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Qualify for 24H DIRECT TRANSIT??

My girlfriend and I are flying to Guangzhou. We would like to leave immediately on arrival by train to go to Hong Kong.
Would we qualify for the 24 HOUR DIRECT TRANSIT?

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the answer.
Which documents would we need in that case?
I assume we need to book our train ticket before we request the 24h transit visa.
Do we also need proof of accomodation in Hong Kong?

The proof of accommodation in HK is not necessary. You just need to show your train tickets and passport.

Hi Kent,
I've just been on the phone with the Chinese Embassy in Brussels. They've informed me that the information on this webpage is not correct. With the 24 hour direct transit, you are not allowed to leave the airport to go to the train station.
You can only stay inside the airport and take another flight within 24 hours. With the 72 hour transit, you are allowed to leave the airport, but you have to leave China by the same airport withing 72 hours.

I don't think so. Under the 24 hour direct transit, you are allowed to leave the airport if you apply for a temporary stay permit at the airport. It's not required that you have to fly in and fly out from a same airport. You can take the train to Hong Kong. If you still have doubts, you should contact the immigration office of Guangzhou for confirmation. The number is 0086-20-36066950.
