Is USD the best currency to take with us to Vietnam and Cambodia? What about the visa/master cards, are they commonly use? Do they charge any additional commission for visa/master?

Yes, USD is the best currency to bring to Vietnam and Cambodia. Visa/ masters card are popular in the big cities : Ho Chi Minh, Hoi An Hue, Hanoi (Vietnam), Siem Reap (Cambodia). You can pay by credit card and withdraw the local currency from ATM.
