About:Hong Kong Octopus Card

Is there any expiry date for on loan octopus card in Hong Kong?

The card has no expiry date. As long as you use it, it will be valid. If you haven’t used it over 1,000 days, you need to activate it. Then you can use it again.

Thank you for the help! Can I also check, Tourists are more advisable to get on-loan octopus card right?

Also, if i have balance in the card but did not refund for it and kept the card. Assuming my next visit would be more than 1000 days and therefore, I have to reactivate it, would the unused amount still be in the card??

Yes, you are right. With the card, tourist can have a more convenient and economical choice on the transportation.

Do not worry. When you reactivate it, the unused balance is still in your account of the card.
