About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I require visa to go on shore when on a cruise with a destination in China?

I am going on a cruise from Tokyo to Hong Kong. One of the destinations on route is Shanghai(Baoshan). I will also be travelling to Taipee, Taiwan as another destination. what are my requirements there?

Thanks

Edward, if your stay in Shanghai is less than 24 hours, then you don't need to apply any entry permit. However, please do confirm this with your cruise company. A guy in a similar situation was required to apply for a transit type by the cruise company. He said that he wouldn't be allowed to board the ship if he didn't apply.
