Student visa JW202 charged $1550 BY agent in China

Hi, my daughter received an admission notice from a Chinese agent that she has been admitted to a named university. the same agent has now charged us $1550 in order to process a JW202 visa which they said has to be processed in Beijing but we have not received an admission letter from the same university. does such charges of $1550 exist and are they truly processed from Beijing? please advise. thanks.

Generally speaking, the JW 202 form does charge fees. However, if you get it from an agent, it may charge some service fee from you. But I think it's too expensive. You had better be cautious and not get trapped.
