About:Yangzhou Street Scene

Working visa (z visa) to x1 or x2 student visa

I am currently on a z visa for work. Is it difficult to transfer that to a x1 or x2 visa if i want to take time off to study at a Mandarin School but remain in China?

I'm afraid you need to apply a X visa in your home country. I only know cases switching an X visa to a Z visa within China.

As it's super easy to get a DTV visa, instead of flying halfway around the world, can you apply in person at the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok?, as with a DTV you can prove you're legal in Thailand.

DTV is also a kind of long-term visa in Thailand so I think you can apply for a visa in peron at the VISA CENTER in Bangkok or Chiang Mai.
