About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Fly from HKG and transit to Macau?

May I get the 72hour free transit by flying to Shanghai from Hong Kong and transit to Macau? (or fly from Macau and "transit" to Hong Kong) I expect both Hong Kong and Macau are considered external to China so it should be ok?

Basically I want to attend a conference in Shanghai July 15-17th and I have a 5-day Shenzhen visa now only.

Nicolas, in principle, your route is OK for the 72-hour free transit. However, sometimes the immigration officer may think you are just trying to avoid getting the visa.
