Visa application in NYC

Hi,
I am currently living in China and my entry permit will expire on July 25th. I am planning to obtain a L type because I will be living in Kinmen, Taiwan. Do you think it will be easier for me to apply on my own or is it better to do it through an agency? Since Kinmen is so close to Xiamen, I want to travel during the weekends. In addition, I plan to do some volunteer lectures at the school I am currently living at. It would require me to have an entry permit to be able to return later on. I am afraid it will not get accepted and that I will have to keep going back to the embassy. Does my application need to have everything written in caps? And can I wear a headband in my passport photo? It is very thin, barely noticeable, it is not considered headgear but I don't want to have to take yet another photo.

Thank you,
KK

Hi there!
1. I think it's easier if you use an agency.
2. You just need to fill in the application form in a proper way and ensure than no blanks are left. You don't have to write everything in detail.
3. You had better change a photo. It's required that you should not wear such decorations on the passport photo.
