can i authenticate my daughters birth certificate in beijing?

My daughter and wife are travelling from houston in one week, they have applied for the S2 visa, whats my next step once they arrive to Beijing for them to apply for the Temprary Resident?  Do i need documents autheticated? I was not aware of this documents. Until a friend told me that we need documetns autheticated.

Nathan, S2 type usually has 180 days duration of stay at most. You needn't change it for a temporary resident permit so that you needn't have your daughters' birth certificates authenticated by Chinese embassy.
