About:China Visa Application Requirements

15-year old daughter going on School Trip to China Refused Visa because my name has changed.

My name on my passport is my Maiden name. My name on my daughter's birth certificate is my Married Name, although my Maiden name is also on the birth certificate. In the UK we are legally entitled to revert to our Maiden name on divorce without changing our name through deed poll. However, the Office has said they will not grant my daughter without a change of name by deed poll. Please can you explain why this is the case?
We have submitted the following documents:
Original Birth certificate, Father's passport, Mother's passport, change of name document, application signed by both parents. What more can we do? My daughter has been studying Mandarin for 4 years in order to go on this trip.
The trip is for 2 weeks and they are leaving on the 12th July 2015.

Diana, you need to provide an official paper that your name has been changed. A deed poll acts as documentary evidence enabling a person to get their official records updated to show their new name. Without it, organzation and companies won't recognize a change of name.

I think this is the reason why they require you should change your name through deed poll. If you still want to help your girl apply for her Chinese entry permit, please do as what the officer said. Anyway, they are the ones who decide whether to issue or refuse an entry permit to your daughter.

HI Diana,
I'm having the same problem right now. I'm married to my Chinese husband for 3 years and I just renewed my passport. MY old passport has my maiden name on it, my marriage papers in China also has my maiden name on it. When I renewed my passport I decided to change my family name with my husband's. And now that I wish to renew my visa they told me to change my name in the marriage papers too before they would allow me to renew my visa.

Did you have the same issue on visa renewal for yourself?
