Which card or type of ticket would be the best for staying in Shanghai for a month?

Hi! How much would a card cost and is it cheaper than buying single tickets when needed?

You can just buy the Ordinary Public Transportation Card.
The card costs CNY 20. In general, you can recharge CNY 50 or CNY 100.
You can enjoy some discounts when using this kind of card.
