do i need to pay gratuities to the driver & guide?

I am on a personal tour and they say that the gratuities to the driver & guide are not included in the cost of the tour?  Do I have to pay them extra and how much?

Cheryl, if they claim that the tips are not included in the cost of the tour, then you'd better give the tips. Usually the guide receives a bit more than the driver. You may give the driver around CNY50 and CNY5o to 100 to the tour guide.
