About:China Visa Exemption

Beijing - Taipei - Beijing - Germany, can I get the 72-hour transfer visa?

Hi,
I am currently staying in Beijing for half a year and want to go to Taiwan.
The flight back would be Taipei - stopover in Xiamen - Beijing. My flight back to Germany would be on the next day.

Is it possible if my stopover is in Hong Kong or if it is a direct flight from Taipei to Beijing?

Lisa, even your flight is a direct one from Taipei to Beijing, you still can't make use of 72 hours free transit because the departure city and your destination is the same.

However, if you can stop over in HK before you fly to Peking, then you are qualified for the transit. And please make sure that your flight from HK to Peking won't stop at any other Chinese city.
