What is the situation with S visas and same-sex couples?

My wife has a Z type. I currently hold a Z type too. When we return to China from UK (Scotland) where we have taken our few months maternity, we will get a dependency entry permit for our baby daughter. My wife is now considering quitting work to stay home with our daughter in PRC. Could she also get a dependency one or S1 type or is this not possible?

Penny, if your wife's name is shown on the birth certificate of the baby, I think there is a chance that she can get the S1 type, even though the chance is not big. You can consult this with the embassy anyhow.
