Is it possible that a Canadian (born in China) apply for a 10-year visa to China?

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am a Canadian (born in China) working for the United Nations now based in Budapest, Hungary. Given that I have family members living in PRC whom I travel back to visit every year, I would like to apply for a long term visa to PRC, wondering if the new treaty between PRC and Canada on extending 10 year type applies to my case. Could you please advise? If yes, what documents do I need to prepare and submit with the application?
Thank you in advance,
Kathy

Kathy, it is possible for you to apply for the 10-year entry permit now. Are your family members Chinese or foreigers? If they are Chinese, you should apply for the Q2 type. If they are foreigners, you shoudl apply for the S2 type. The documents you need to prepare are your passport, a photocopy of the passport's info page, a finished V.2013 application form attached with your recent photo, an invitation letter from your family member, a photocopy of his or her passport and residence permit/ID card, and a kinship certificate. Remember that the remaining validity of your passport should be at least ten years.

Thank you for your reply.
As my passport does not have remaining validity for 10 years, it guess I cannot apply for the Q2 type this time.
If I only apply for the short term visit (less than 3 months) and the person whom I am going to visit is my sister, are invitation letter and kinship certificate still needed? If yes, what is exactly this kinship certificate in this case?
Many thanks in advance,
Kathy

Kathy, if you are applying for the L ype, then the kinship certificate is not needed, but the invitation letter is still required.
