About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

From Hong Kong through Beijing and then back to Third Country?

Does the 72 hour pass work from a 3rd region. I.E. Traveling from US - Hong Kong - Beijing - US? Reading above that is sure what it sounds like, but wanted to be sure.

Yes, it works for flying from or to a third region. This route is eligible.
