About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

can I benefit from the 72 hour transit visa?

I am flying in from London to Shanghai and will be staying Shanghai for less than 72 hours and flying back to London on a British passport.

Robert, if you want to avail yourself of the 72-hour free transit policy, you cannot fly from a place and then back to it. The departure country and the onward country must be different. I suggest you go from London to Hong Kong first, then go to Shanghai, and then back to London. This route is eligible for the free transit service.
