purchasing silk in hangzhou

Question

May I ask if I need to buy in bulk at those wholesale places?  Also are those silk items 'cut-throat-tourist' prices?  Kindly advice ~ thank you.

No, you don't. The wholesale places are usually both for wholesale and retail. Chinese Silk City in the city is a good place to go. It is located between Tiyuchang Road and Fengqi Road. Sometimes the sellers may overcharge, but not much. If feeling the price is expensive, you can reasonably bargain.
