About:China Customs Declaration

lost money in China

When i was arrived in beijing they checked my hand bag and me. I have put my little bag (with my passport and 4000 $) inside my hand bag. So after checking I was go to my hotel without chrcking my bag. But now I Dont my passport and my monyes. What I need to do?
