Entry Visas for attendance at a conference in Shanghai

My wife and I want to attend a conference in Shanghai in August. What do we need to apply for?

We live in Quebec City; the closest embassy is Ottawa. So, allowing for applications and sending papers back and forth, how much time should be planned to get the necessary documentation?

Thank you.

Hi, Luke! Is the conference of business nature? If so, you should apply for an M type. If it’s for cultural exchange, academic research, or something like this, you should apply for an F type. It takes about ten working days if you submit the application and get your passport back via posts.
