passport expiry requirements

Question

We are two NZ citizens travelling on NZ passports. We will fly China southern airlines to Europe in June, returning in October. By the time we pass back through China in October our passports will have only 5 months until expiry. Both ways, we will only be transiting through Ghuangzhou for a few hours (maybe up to 17 hours).  Will our passports be acceptable to the Chinese officials on that return journey?

Alex, since you only transit within 17 hours, I think your passport is acceptable. If you want to make it sure, you can contact Guangzhou Immigration by dialing 086-020-32090038.
