Chongqing weather in Augusts

I am planning on travelling in china during July and August (not having other options), and will end with some time in this city. I understand it will be very hot in august. But what about the rain? I understand I can expect quite some of it. But will it be entire days of rain or rather short downpours? Can anyone comment on this question from experience?
