Hi Laura, This article is a bit misleading, certainly as stated Article No 3 and 9 of the Nationality Laws are correct and apply to pure Chinese Citizens. However, Artice No 4 also states :-
"If they were born in China, to one Chinese-national parent, they are a Chinese national at birth (Article 4). If their other parent is a non-Chinese-national, they may acquire another nationality at birth by jus sanguinis from that parent"
My daughter is 13 and has held both a Chinese & UK passport all her life, she lives in China as a Chinese Citizen and outside travels as a UK citizen. However it does pose some problems on exiting China as the Chinese refuse to accept her UK passport as a travel document, we tend to always travel though HK though and they allow her to enter on her UK passport before we fly. Travel regulations for dual nationals have become much stricter internationally in the last 15 years.
