About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Depart san diego, ca usa to arrive PGV shanghai june 15 4:10 pm and depart PGV june 18 4:10 pm

Does this schedule qualify for 72 hour transit visa. I will travel for business meeting from San Diego CA, USA on June 14th to arrive in Shanghai June 15 at 4:10 pm. I will depart Shanghai PGV on june 18 at 4:10 pm to travel back to the Charlotte NC, USA. I am an American citizen with American passport.

No. You must depart to a third country. Departing back to the US does not count. If you are departing PVG to a third country on the return (e.g. Japan, Korea) then this would work but you don't specify how you're getting to CLT.
