About:China Transit Visa

Bangkok - Shanghai (13 hours) - Vancouver

Hello, I am a Canadian citizen travelling home to Vancouver from Bangkok. I have a layover in Shanghai Airport for 13 hours. Am I allowed to leave into the city without any form of pre approved visa??
