Apply Chinese tourist visa in Sapporo (on tourist entry permit for Japan)

Hi,
I'm a British citizen who will be visiting Sapporo on a tourist entry permit for Japan, while in Sapporo I want to get a tourist entry permit for China.
Is this possible to do it all in Sapporo? Can I go to the consulate myself or do I need to go through an agency? If so, please can you recommend an agency and how much it should cost??

Many thanks!

John, you can do it in the consulate at Sapporo. You don't need to go through an agency and can apply for the entry permit by yourself. The application documents include a valid passport, a photocopy of the passport's data page, a filled application form glued with your bare-headed color photo, the orginal and photocopy of your entry permit for Japan, and round-way tickets and hotel booking records for China. The cost for a single entry touristL type is 4000 yen.
