we would like to travel from bejing to xian (2 days) then to shanghai by g,fast train.

Question

We would like to do a semi independent Golden Triangle trip using high speed trains between Bejing, Xian and Shanghai.  Does the fast train operate between Beijing and Xian?  We would like pick up at rail station to our owned booked hotel.  We would also like perhaps a day city tour of each area.
