About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Is this possible?

Hi can you tell me if this works? Flight 1: USA (with layover in Seoul) to Shanghai. Flight 2: Shanghai to Seoul. This is all within 72 hours. On the first flight, I'm not entering Seoul but will be there as a layover. Can this work or does this violate the policy since it looks like I'm coming from Seoul to Shanghai and back? Anybody, please help!

I think the route is not qualified for the free transit. You should book a direct flight ticket from the USA to Shanghai.

I did book a flight from USA to Shanghai, but it stops in Korea for few hours - I think it was the cheapest route. I won't be leaving the airport in Korea so no stamp on my passport. Will this not work?

If so, perhaps it will work. You can confirm it with your airline.
