About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Will the layover in Guanzhou affect my eligibility of the 72-hr visa-free transit?

Hello, I'm confused about this statement under the "Conditions for Application: The flights to and from any of the eleven cities should not stop beforehand in any other Chinese cities. Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are regarded as a third region. For instance, if a flight lands in Xian via Beijing, passengers are not able to enjoy the policy."

I'm a Canadian citizen going to the Philippines and on my way back from Philippines to Canada, would like to visit Beijing and avail the 72-hour visa-free transit. Here's the flight I'm looking at on my way back: Leave Phils. April 17; Arrive Beijing April 17 at 8pm (with layover in Guangzhou for 3 hours); leave Beijing on April 20 at 8AM going to Canada. Could I avail of the 72-hour visa-free-transit?

Ming, then you are not eligible for 72 hours free transit in Beijing. Simply, you can only stop in Beijing without stopping at any other Chinese cities and then fly out within 72 hours.
