Sacred Heart International School in Beijing. Does the school still exist?

I attended this school from 1958-1961. My father was serving as a diplomat from Burma at the Burmese Embassy in Peking. I know both Mother Thomas and Mother Amen. Mother Amen was a big fat Irish nun. She was my favorite teacher and person. They must have passed away by now.
I would like to visit the school someday. I am in the US.

I attended the same years that you did. The school was closed during the beginning of the Cultural Revolution, sometime around 1967 and those few nuns that still were there had to flee.

Hello Alec, I am Ahsen Salim. I attended the same school 1961-1965 with my siblings. Yes I do remember Mother Thomas and Mother Amen (and mother Fintana, Mother Notre Dame and Sister Jolie (who could speak only French). I forgot the name of my music teacher, she did not speak Englis either. Mother Amen was my favorite teacher too (fifth grade I believe). She was so kind.

Sad story about Mother Amen: during the cultural revolution (just after we left Peking in fact), they all had to flee in a hurry, to Hong Kong and Macau. Mother Amen did not survive, and passed away during that traumatic experience. I and my family read about it in the paper and we cried. I wish we could have helped.

I went to the Sacred Heart school in Peking from 1953 to 1955 and I remember Sister Thomas and Sister Jolie and also an Irish nun who taught me the piano whose name I just can’t remember. The nuns would tuck up their habits on sports day and show us how yo do the long jump.
