need a new work visa but passport is currently being renewed.

Question

My current Z type may run out before my new passport arrives. I am currently in China legally but what happens if my new UK passport does not arrive by the time that Z type expires? My current passport doesn't actually expire until June but it didn't have six months left on it to acquire the new visa.Do I need an emergency document of some kind? HELP! :(

Jade, I am afraid that you have no choice but leave mainland China before your current resident permit for employment expires. If your old passport is valid for at least six months, you may try to get a L type from local entry and exit management bureau. However, it doesn't work for you now.
