Hi Kerri, only if your layover is CN is not more than 24 hours can you enjoy the free transit pocily and apply for a stay permit. Otherwise, you have to apply for a G type in advance. You need to apply for the stay permit at the immigration inspection counter at the port by presenting your passport and confirmed onward tickets.

Kerri, I think that there is an immigration checkpoint at the port. You should apply for the stay permit from when you pass the checkpoint to go to the city.
