Who pays for wedding?

Our son from England currently lives in China with his Chinese partner who is 35 and has three siblings. She has not lived with her parents for many years and has never married. My son and she are now engaged. Our son has met his fiancée's family. When they marry which may be in China or in the uk who would be expected to pay and would a bride price be expected?

In China, it's the groom who pays for the wedding. And he has to give the bride price to the girl's parents. In some areas, the girl's parents ask for a lot of money as bride price. Your son should discuss this issue with his fiancee first.
