About:Hong Kong Visa Policy

I am looking to work in Guangzhou China/ Live there. What Visa do i need and how do I obtain it?

I am Canadian and I will be moving there to live and would like to work while I am there, Duration: approx 1 year. I heard something about going to Hong Kong and then leaving HK and returning as a way to apply? Could someone please give me some advice on where to start?
Thanks,

Scott, you should find an employer first. With your employer's help, you can apply for a Z type. After you have the Z type, you need to change it to a temporary resident permit immediately within 30 days at local entry and exit management bureau when you arrive. The bureau usually give your the duration of stay according to your work contract.
