I am Malaysian currently resident of Hong Kong. My current one expired on 14 Oct 2014 and need to travel to Shenzhen tomorrow 21.12.2014 and stay less than 24hr.

Eric, you can try to apply for five-day special VOA for Shenzhen. It costs around CNY 168. However, I am not sure whether you will apply successfully or not.
