Transit visa for Vietnamese?

I'm a Vietnamese citizen studying in Japan. I'm flying back from Kansai to Ho Chi Minh and have a 27 hour layover in Shanghai Pudong. Do I need a transit type and where can I get one? Can I apply for one at the airport and how long should it take to get it? I have one week left until the departure date. Thank you so much!

Anh, you need to apply for a transit type via qualified tour agencies in Japan immediately. It takes around 4 days to deal with your application. Except your passport, application form and a recent passport photo, you should provide your connecting air tickets. You can not apply for it when you arrive in Shanghai.
