About:China Visa Application Procedure and Fee

First time China visa- australian in HK

I am an australian passport holder who is planning to go to China in March of next year. I have not held a Chinese visa before and am living and will be traveling from Hong Kong. I have been told that I would need to return to Australia to get this visa issued. Is this true.
Thanks
Brett

Brett, you said that you lived in HK. Do you have HK resident permit? If so, you can apply in HK. If not, you may find some agencies to help you. If you don't have the resident permit and the agency told you that you couldn't apply in HK, then you have no choice but go back to apply in Australia.
