7 hour stopover in Shanghai

Am flying from Melbourne, Australia to Vancouver, Canada with a 7 hour stop over in Shanghai, can we leave the airport during this time for sightseeing? If so what do we have to do exactly to enable this?

Thank you

Y

Hey, you enjoy 72 hours free transit. You can tell the fight attendants that you want to make use of 72 hours free transit in Shanghai at least 30 minutes before the plane lands at the airport. The flight attendants will inform the immigration office at the airport in advance. After you land at the airport, you just need to follow the signs to reach the office where you can apply for 72 hours free transit.
