international connection transit procedure malaysian to united airlines in shanghai

Question

I am arriving on Malaysian Airlines (MH) in PVG then connecting to ORD (USA) with United Airlines (UA) in 2.5 hours.   I was told I will need to get boarding passes printed for the UA flight in PVG.  Where do I go for this?  Do I need to exit immigration to do this?  Is 2.5 hours enough time?  Thank you.

Correction:  MH flight arrives in terminal 2, not 1.  Therefore connecting flight (UA) is also on terminal 2.  I would like to know what to do after exiting the MH flight and where to go to get the boarding passes for the UA flight (MH and UA are not code shared but have interline ticket and baggage agreement.  Thank you.
