About:Chinese Crew, Resident and Journalist Visa

I am a US citizen working for an American Cruise line.

The ship I am on in 2015 will be in 5 Chinese ports and some will be overnight stays. Do I apply for the Crew, C type or the Transit, G type? The company is saying we must apply on our own. What documents do I need to apply?

Personally speaking, since you work on a cruise, you need to apply for a Crew type. Please contact the local Chinese embassy for confirming.
