TG, it depends on what mode your cellphone you support and which operator you choose. Take China Mobile for example, if you use its Quanqiutong simcard, you need to find a guarantor or deposit at least 3000 RMB. You may tell what mode your cellphone supports and then I can find out their hotline number. You can contact them directly and ask about details.

omg 3000RMB exceeds even my whole week budget that I planned. I'm currently using sony xperia V. I copy from the device white paper, it supports:

"UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 2100 (Band I)
GSM EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900
LTE Band I, Band III, Band V, Band VII and Band XX"

And my phone uses micro-sim. Thanks for fast reply.

TG, your cellphone support GSM (2G) and WCDMA (3G) modes. I personally advise you to use WCDMA service provided by China Unicom. It's faster than GSM. Normally, you can spend CNY 100 or 200 to register a sim card at China Unicom's office. Your passport will be needed when you buy the sim-card.
